1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
No Words
Here we are in another new year. Every time I open up social media, someone is sharing what their word for 2026 is. This is often accompanied by a beautiful anaysis of why the word is fitting to their life. I really enjoy the insight and have often wished I could do the same, but nope. Words don’t really come like that for me. How about you?
While I seem to miss out on this phenomena, I do have a feeling that we should all adopt the word WITH into our year. I love that John, the self styled disciple Jesus loved, begins his gospel with this reminder. That God, in flesh Jesus, is present at creation. Just like he’s present in every word of scripture. This is why we have The Word on Wednesday, to highlight the value of every single word.
Given that the word has been with our world since its birth, and that word is God himself, surely it’s a no-brainer that we want God with us this year. Some of us have already faced heartbreak, hardship, opportunity, prosperity, success, failure and loss in 2026. For the rest, we may or may not know what struggles lie ahead. What mountain we need to climb, valley we need to traverse. Who knows what doors may slam or open, leaving us cheering, groaning or gasping ‘why?’
The Only Important Word
But in all the things, we don’t want to be alone. God made man and very quickly made woman as a help mate and company. We were made for relationship with God. He walked in the garden with Adam and Eve, until it all went wrong and we let sin join us for a lifelong stroll. Simply put, we were made for with. So before you get much further with your word, your resolution(s), or just the stuff of life, I encourage you to as God to come with you. To make His presence tangible, His direction clear.

I’m a military wife and mom to two teenage girls (oh, Lord, have mercy). I write contemporary romance and have written a Bible study for military wives. I love to play guitar, read and ski, and I bleed green and gold (go Pack go). Swing by when I’ve been baking – the kettle is always on ready alert.
