Finally, in The Bachelor Spy, Stephen Blake gets his story told. Glory hallelujah. I have wanted to see him get his HEA since The Mistletoe Countess, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Blake is somewhat enigmatic, which is on brand for a spy who operates at the highest levels. After escaping a terrible tragedy, he’s sent to his best friend’s estate to root out a traitor. Havensbrooke Hall doesn’t feel quite right for Grace with Freddie away serving as an Army officer.
But trouble still finds Grace, and now Stephen must juggle his mission with a series of unsettling events, and establish if the only woman to ever turn his head is the mole. There’s a lot going on here and as ever with Pepper Basham, the book is well written and the characters completely charming. If you think Agatha Christie meets Downton Abbey, dusted with that magical Basham dust, then you’ve about got this. Highly recommended.
I received a copy of The Bachelor Spy from the publisher via NetGalley. The delight is all my own.
