Defence Analyst Sarah Ellison is tryig desperately to piece together her grandfather’s deathbed confession and figure out how it’s connected to her brohter’s murder. To do so she needs to try and find the wreckage of a WW2 bomber, rumored to be carrying Nazi gold. The plane is believed to have gone down in the Casccade Mountains which means Sarah needs a guide to help her navigate perilous terrain.

Former Navy SEAL Ryder Goodwin doesn’t guide for the family business anymore, after his dad died up the mountain. But after he rescues Sarah from a mudslide, he is compelled to help her on her quest. The problem is, at least two forces are trying to stop her.

When the Silence Breaks

As you’d expect with Elizabeth Goddard, this is pretty high octane. The preimise is compelling – a downed WW2 bomber holding untold secrets and wealth. An atrraction that might cause more harm than good if the pair takes their eyes off whomever is trying to stop them. The author has clearly done her geographic research to. I felt part of the group and took many steps with Ryder and Sarah as they went off trail.

This book is well written and intriguing. I had the added fun of listening to it instead of reading the physical book. My step count for August is great. Evidence of how much I wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery.
