Falling Into Us

Falling Into Us, by Denise Hunter

Falling Into Us by Densie Hunter further cements her as a go-to author for me. This is a double review because I started out reading and switched to listening as I had a long drive.

The premise is cleverly delivered here. Gabby is tasked with delivering a letter from her dead mom to her estranged mom. Gabby’s grandma lives five hundred miles away in an area Gabby doesn’t know. On top of that, Gabby has never met Rosemary, who walked away when Gabby’s mom fell pregnant with her as a teenager.

So it’s a little bit emotionally charged. Gabby books a couple of nights at the AirB&B of widowed dad Mason Morrison, who takes an instant dislike to her. But then when Gabby’s grandma can’t be found, steps in to help.

This story has a lot of emotional strands to pull on. The grieving daughter, already resentful before meeting her estranged grandma. The widower raising a daughter who is chafing at his risk averse nature, who hasn’t moved on in ten years.

I won’t give any more away, but friends, this is Denise Hunter at her finest. The attraction and also the jitters. The wider cast of characters are well conceived and play key roles at different times, pulling all the pieces of the story together like an epic jigsaw puzzle.

This is a fun but touching low spice romance. A perfect autumn read if you like contemporary romance.

I received a copy of Falling Into Us from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions are all mine.
