I was very excited to listen to Written in Secret having loved the first series from this talented author.

Quick disclaimer – Crystal Caudill has been a dear friend for years. Our relationship built on misadventure, family ties, and a love of all things Jesus and writing. Crystal is the real deal. Now, to the book. In a nutshell, you have a woman from a respectable family writing thrillers under a male pen name. Then a real killer starts taking inspiration from the novels and author Lydia Pelton comes under suspicion, and threat.

Policeman Abraham Hall does not approve of Lydia’s profession. He completely mistrusts her, even while the two are drawn to each other. He needs her help if he’s going to stop the killings before the body count gets much higher.

Crystal Caudill is a beautiful writer. Her stories keep you guessing. They stress me out as I fight the urge to make sure it all ends well, so tightly written are the stakes for the characters. She is gifted at weaving faith into her characters. There’s a great deal of Christian content without making the reader feel preached at. I highly recommend this book. And I would even if she wasn’t my friend, but I’m glad she is.
