This is a book have I waited a long time for. Lynn H. Blackburn is one of my favorite authors. When I pick up any of her books, I expect to be swept into another world. Her characters seem as real to me as my neighbors. Unknown Threat is the first in her new Defend and Protect series, focusing on the Secret Service. In this first offering, the team is under siege as a series of explosions claims lives and leave others clamoring for safety.
Luke Powell is mourning the loss of three friends and battling the frustration at his failure to find their killer. Enter F.B.I. Agent Faith Malone, who’s put in charge of the investigation into the attacks. Her presence causes some inter-agency rivalry to surface threatening the mission. As more agents fall into the crosshairs of the killer, can Luke put his bias to one side before the body count rises? Will Faith be able to focus on work, with all the animosity directed at her? Or will the pair be too busy dodging the sparks that fly between them?
As ever, Blackburn’s book pulled me in from the explosive opening scene and kept me guessing. I expect this series to firmly establish her as one of the must-read authors for lovers of compelling romantic suspense. Very highly recommended.
