The Heart’s Charge by Karen Witemeyer

I was delighted when The Heart’s Charge arrived in my mailbox. The second offering in the Hanger’s Horsemen series features Mark and Jonah and their stories. Oh my. Two horsemen, in one books. That’s a LOT of story. Because these are no ordinary heroes. Nope.

The books starts as it means to go on with Mark and Jonah up to their elbows in delivering a baby while the mom only wants to join her husband in Heaven. After the men get help for the mom, they’re tasked with finding a nurse for the newborn and that’s when Mark encounters the woman who rejected him years ago. Katherine is running a foundling home and her parter, Eliza catches Jonah’s eye, despite her frosty demeanor.

Suddenly, the men are embroiled in repairing the run down facilities at Harmony House and investigating the rumors of kiddo snatchers in the area. But will they get to the bottom of what’s going on before securing the women they’re both coming to care for? Or will their inquiries lead them into more trouble?

Because stopping trouble is what the Horsemen do best.

Wow. This is Karen Witemeyer at her finest. I drew breath, got chills, teared up and cheered. All within three or four chapters. If you like a cracking story and a fine romance or two, this is a must read.
