Freddie and Grace return and are in full form in the fantastic Cairo Curse. I should start by saying this is the second book featuring the characters. Reading the first installment, The Mistletoe Countess is highly recommended because it’s truly great, it isn’t vital to still enjoy this trip to Egypt.
This time around, we see our still newlyweds embark on the trip of a lifetime. Freddie and Grace head off to an archaeological dig near Cairo. But the pure romance ends before the bags are even unpacked. There’s a killer on the loose!
I loved that Freddie was just a swoony but solid as in the first book, and Grace every bit as hilarious but centered on her faith. That’s a tricky balance to write but Basham has excelled herself with her character work.
Fans of a good Agatha Christie mystery where there are multiple suspects, will thoroughly enjoy this story. Even better – the ensemble cast will keep you guessing, almost until the handcuffs are on.
I was extremely privileged to read both Freddie and Grace stories very early, and I’m hoping for number three very soon.
