Silent Shadows by Natalie Walters

Silent Shadows is book three of the Harbored Secrets series. This is my first Natalie Walters book, and a number of my writer friends yelled at me about that.

Turns out they were right to yell.

I got sucked into Colton and Pecca’s story really quickly. As a military wife myself, I loved the glimpses of life in the veteran’s home. The guys from D-wing became firm favorites very quickly.

The story of Pecca’s fight to protect her family and Colton’s battle for health wrap themselves brilliantly well around their love story. With deft use of great description, I could picture the various places from the story in my mind and wanted to join in the flag football or go to the cafe for dinner.

Happily, I didn’t really have a clue who I thought the bad guy was until quite far through, and that’s a definite win for me. The characters made me care very quickly and that’s a precious gift from a writer to a reader.

While this book is the third in the series, I have’t read the first two. I didn’t feel like I’d missed out, but I know I’ll enjoy going back to read them.
