I’ve wanted to read Kate Breslin for several years and In Love’s Time didn’t disappoint.
This love story is set amid the backdrop of war-torn Europe. A rumor that the Romanov tsarina of Russia is still alive in hiding, sends Naval Intelligence officer Captain Sir Marcus Weatherford to find her. He poses as the fiancee of former Russian ballerina, breaking his girlfriend Clare’s heart in the process.
Clare’s carefully constructed world crumbled amid Marcus’s apparent betrayal. When a wealthy family tries to take her daughter, she agrees to nurse a wounded Marcus back to health in the hope he can help her in return.
Watching the man she still loves with his new woman tears into Clare, while Marcus searches his injured memory to try and understand why he feels so strongly for his carer. This is a complex and attention grabbing read. Well researched and with characters who make you care very much about their outcome.
World War One is a harrowing and beautiful time to journey back to and Breslin does not disappoint. Definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys this timeframe.
