Impending Strike is part two in the Elite Guardians reboot from Sunrise Publishing, written by original author Lynette Eason and newcomer Sami Abrams. Just like the first in the series, this one is is another slam dunk, home run (pick your metaphor) of a story.
Charlie Lee, the only male member of staff knows he’s not good enough to hope for a future with fellow guardian Lizzie Tremaine. However, when Charlie takes a beating, he loses his near term memory, and allows her to see a more serious side. Lizzie knows how to guard her heart, but when she’s charged with protecting Charlie, she knows she’ll stop at nothing to keep him safe.
By now, the staff of EGA (Elite Guardians Agency) are old friends. Seeing Lizzy and especially Charlie take center stage, is a treat. Especially the glimpse into Charlie’s past. Both bodyguards need to heal in order to have a chance at a future together.
I listened to Impending Strike and was happy to discover the same narrator as Driving Force. The artist definitely made the story jump to life, although it has plenty of energy of its own.
With brilliant characters and an unpredictable, compelling plot, I recommend Impending Strike for readers who love romantic suspense with a twist of hope.
