Hidden in the Night is the third novel in the excellent Missing in Alaska series. Like the others, this one works as a standalone too.
Do I really need to say ‘missing Jack London manuscript’, ‘rekindled romance,’ or ‘multiple attempts on their lives’ before you go buy a copy? This book is a doozy. Seriously now. Former FBI Agent Ivy Elliot is in Alaska on the hunt for a lost Jack London manuscript. Almost as soon as she steps off the plane, events take a turn. Before long there’s a body count and she’s barely staying a half step ahead of the killers.
Alaskan State Trooper Nolan Long is about ready to board a plane to Florida and track down the woman who captured his heart and still has it. But before he leaves he’s called to a crime scene and finds Ivy Elliot there. What on earth? As the two team up to track down a missing girl, they face sabotage, blizzards and unknown assailants, all while battling their mutual attraction, because how does a relationship survive the distance between their home states?
As ever with an Elizabeth Goddard novel, you feel like you’re taking every chilly step with the characters. I love how vividly the surroundings and strange quirks of surviving the Alaskan landscape are described. They’re a real highlight for me, along with the page turning suspense and gentle romance.
I received a copy of Hidden in the Night from the publisher via NetGalley. The admiration of the author is all my own.
