Hearts in Circulation is a big win for fans of forced proximity romance, or opposites attract. We have a withdrawn and grumpy here, while our heroine, is little Miss Sunshine.
The story itself is really cute. The quick overview features a rundown bookmobile – nicknamed Cletus – driven by Hayley the librarian into a rockslide, and then stranded in a very small town. Consequently, she’s forced to stay with the prickly mechanic who’ll be fixing her vehicle, and then she can get going once the road is cleared.
Hayley realizes quite quickly that Levi isn’t a threat, he’s just an introvert whose senses overwhelm easily. In turn, Levi sees the wounded gem behind Hayley’s sunshine personality. Few authors could cover the depth of emotional turmoil and still write a fairly lighthearted book, but Monzon has this skill firmly grasped in her writer’s toolkit. I laughed, winced and held my breath at times. This is highly recommended if you love a light read, with depth and a great romance.
I received a copy of Hearts in Circulation from the publisher via NetGalley. The views are my own.
