Do you love books that feature their geographic location heavily? If you like a story to transport you to another place, then you should enjoy Jessica Kate’s sophomore offering, A Girl’s Guide to the Outback.
A Girl’s Guide to the Outback tells the tricky story of Kimberly, a business whizz who ditched corporate life. She switches to help a financially challenged youth ministry, Wildfire, led by the lovely Sam. After months of snarky adversarial co-existence, Sam and Kimberly are faced with losing the ministry or expanding. Sam is uneasy about attempting to grow, but Kimberly sees it as the only way forward.
Then Sam’s sister lets him know they’re about to lose the family farm in Australia, and he jumps a flight back, leaving Wildfire in the lurch. With the farm in dire financial straits, Kimberly agrees to help save the farm in order for Sam to return to the US.
What follows is a delightful journey through faith, farming and several disasters. Can Sam and Kimberly put their future in the hands of the one who flung stars in to space. Thoroughly enjoyable read.
