It isn’t very often I have a fan girl moment. After two decades in news journalism, I am, for instance, comfortable talking to heads of state, professional athletes and A listers. However, at a writer’s conference I almost walked smack into Becky Wade an as a result, I lost most of my ability to string sentences together coherently.
Having read Christian fiction for most all of my adult life, she is one of the most talented writers I have found. Most importantly, Falling For You, in my opinion, is her best work to date. Therefore, you have my blessing to skip the review and scroll down to the links for places to order the book. I’d highly encourage that behavior. You won’t be disappointed.
For those of you sticking with me, let me tell you why I enjoyed this book so much that I began rereading it less than a month after devouring it. This is no ordinary romance. It begins with a wounded NFL star, then a precocious child, a missing person mystery and finally a lost love with wounds so deep they infuse the characters’ blood. When you put all of that together and catapult the former couple back into each other’s worlds, then you have yourself a serious page turner.
Crossover Anyone?
There are some brilliant, light hearted moments, for example, Corbin and Willow’s attempts at denying their reignited attraction. However, there are also tear jerking glimpses of the hurt that has been left behind after their first romance failed. Meanwhile, I’m a complete sucker for a good cross over and Corbin is that cheeky quarterback who made a play for Dru Porter in “Her One and Only.” It’s so good to finally see him in his own story.
The faith element is very cleverly done. Firstly, rooted firmly in scriptural truth and secondly, never preachy, Wade shows us her characters hearts as the Lord works to repair damage done by human action that can only be healed by divine intervention.
If you love a great romance with so much more, then this is a must read.
