Everything's Coming Up Rosie

Everything’s Coming Up Rosie, by Courtney Walsh

I listened to Everything’s Coming Up Rosie and think I spent extra time driving just to keep going.

Although she’s only mid twenties, Rosie’s life isn’t going the way she’d hoped. Her acting career has stagnated and she’s showing people to their seats in a theater instead of being on the stage. Then an opportunity arises to work as a director at a retirement community in Door County, WI. It’s not Broadway but it’s a theater paycheck. Even if her actors are a little unusual.

As Rosie tries desperately to step into a directing role, the handsome physical therapist who’s responsible for sets proves a significant distraction. And I really loved the entire story. The secondary characters are off the charts great and used cleverly. The descriptions of theater life are spot on, and no surprise there as the author runs a youth theater with her husband. As the musical develops, so Rosie’s dreams become clearer but with much more in the way. I read a LOT. I couldn’t guess which way things would work out. There were several opportunities for the plot to take a predictable turn and it didn’t. This is a thoroughly enjoyable story and I was sad when I reached the end.

I received an excellently done audiobook copy of Everything’s Coming Up Rosie from the publisher via NetGalley. The views are all my own.
