Deadly Currents

Deadly Currents, by Elizabeth Goddard

Deadly Currents kept me up late as it’s one of those books where you just need to know what’s going on and why.

I think this was my favorite in the Hidden Bay series – and it does also work as a standalone novel. Cressida is in town researching for a book she’s finishing for her father on Ghost Ships. Alaric, died in a hit and run and journalist Cressida is honoring his legacy. Unfortnately, an unknown threat wants to stop her. Not long after arriving in town she’s almost drowned on the beach and then left to wonder who wants her dead too.

Braden was hired by Cressida’s powerful mom to work in Hidden Bay until something ususal happens. Cressida’s arrival then propels Braden into action protecting her and wondering what is going on. He’s being held over a barrel as Cressida’s mom is saving his niece’s life, so long as he does what she asks in secret. But then he starts to develop feelings for Cressida and is at a loss over what to do.

This story kept me guessing. Who was the baddie, why were they after Cressida, and was the ghost sheip she’s hunting, real? I think Goddard wrote both characters really well. I could understand both viewpoints and wanted a happy ending for both main characters. The backdrop of the ocean and abandoned ships only made the story more interesting and suspenseful.

This is a book that fans of romantic suspense are sure to enjoy. I received a copy of Deadly Currents from the publisher via NetGalley. The views are my own.
