He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. Psalm 91:4 ESV
I can’t think of a better place to be than under the wings of God. There we are loved, healed, protected, and kept warm eternally. Symbolically, I see an eagle shielding her eaglets from the forces of evil and destruction while her eyes dart in every direction. Alert to potential harm. Teaching her eaglets how to survive and make wise decisions. No favoritism. Just pure love that guards her babies and shows them the right path.
How do we commit to live under God’s wings?
- Commit your whole life to Him. Our God wants 100 percent of our devotion – not just during good, or challenging times, nor just the portion of our lives we’re willing to surrender to His control. Every breath we take should be under God’s authority, as only He can provide true purpose.
- Commit a portion of each day to grow your relationship with Him. This is preferable in the morning before the day begins. Pray, praise, meditate on Scripture, and listen for Him to speak His divine Word into your life. I find journaling is helpful, and some believers write out their prayers. What’s important is to spend time with Him without distraction. If we are getting to know a new friend, then we explore all the ways we can grow our relationship. We ask questions and look for ways to go deeper (under).
- Commit your life to God by investing in others. Deluge (under) the unlovable with love. Give without expecting something in return. Volunteer. Mentor. Disciple. Pray for them.
- Commit to sharing your time and talents in a way that shows you live under God’s command. The Bible suggests giving 10 percent, but I encourage you to contribute beyond monetary donations, extending your generosity to various aspects of life.
- Commit to corporate worship in a Bible-believing church. Experience the presence of God with others. Immerse yourself (under) in the joy of His tender mercies and the obedience of studying the Word with others.
I want my life spent under God’s sovereign will for He is my Creator King, Savior, and Holy Spirit.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to live under your sovereignty and to follow You forever. Under the shadow of Your wings, I’m safe throughout all time. Thank You for Your wisdom, provision, and unconditional love. Help me to mirror You every moment of the day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Really great reminders. The certain knowledge I’m under his care is often what brings me through the storm. Thanks for this. 💙
