“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Resources vs Provision
I grew up in a small rural community as the youngest of six children to two loving Christian parents. What we lacked in financial resources, God gave us in love.
At the age of three, my father was diagnosed with cancer. Less than a year later, he would be with the Lord. Although I could not remember anything about him, my mother, siblings, and others told me stories about my father. He loved his family but even more so the Savior.

We didn’t have cell phones or easy access to cameras so pictures were few. But there is one particular photo of my father holding me in his lap. It couldn’t have been taken long before he died. He probably already knew the severity of his diagnosis. But you wouldn’t have been able to tell that from the photo. He looked down at me as if I was the twinkle in his eyes.
As I grew up and had times when I missed my father’s presence, I would think of that picture, remember the stories others told me, and realize just how much I was loved.
Never Forsaken
When I was almost 13 years old, we were having a revival at the little country church I had grown up in. That week, the minister spoke each night on “A Father’s Love” from John 3:16. I had listened intently all week long. On the next to last night of the revival, I slipped out of my seat and walked down the aisle, dropped to my knees, knelt my head against the altar, and asked the Heavenly Father who sent his Son to forgive me of my sins to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Not only did my heavenly father restore through his son a right relationship with him, but he placed his Spirit within me so that I would never be separated from Him again.
Gods word tells us that God the Father will never leave us nor will he forsake us. (Deut 31). What my earthly father was unable to do because of this broken world, my heavenly Father made a way not only for me, but also my father, mother, and all who would come to Him. Because of God’s love, I would never be alone, never be separated from Him, and ultimately be with those I love forever.
The Bible tells us that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
A REAL Fairy Story
As a little girl, I loved the stories of the prince coming to rescue the princess. He’d take her away to a wonderful land where there would be no pain, no sorrow, and no separation. As I grew up I realized God provided all that and more in the greatest love story ever told. He sent His son, the prince of Heaven, to save the world from a life of sin and separation from Him.
What a love story.
A love that never fails, never leaves, and never ends.
