There’s nothing more fun than discovering a new ‘go to’ author. I’ve been aware of James Hannibal for a while now but never read his work. The Gryphon Heist was a great place to start. This book has all the hallmarks of a great mystery/thriller page turner.

In a nutshell, this is the story of a rookie CIA operative, dropped into what appears to be little more than a quick intelligence gathering exercise. Then comes a big explosion and everything changes. Suddenly, Talia is in a race with the highest of stakes.

I loved how quickly Hannibal established a set of new characters and helped me to know them. Then there’s the tone of the novel – equal measures of shock, complete unpredictability and humor. The blend meant you never really knew what was coming next, a perfect backdrop for this type of story.

If you enjoy adventure, conspiracy, tantalizing questions of plausibility and a few chuckles, this would be a perfect choice. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
