Today begins Baby Loss Awareness week. This morning, my husband and I attended the opening of a memorial garden, made of brightly colored windmills, to remember our little lost love. This is the first time we will have seen anything official with Sparky’s name on it. The warring emotions of cannot wait, and relieving the searing heartbreak ran amok. Upon reflection, both were valid.

Also this week I teamed up with a couple of friends to begin preparing the chapel where we live for Remembrance Sunday. In England we hold a two minute silence on November 11, but our day of formal Remembrance is the nearest Sunday to the 11th. I find this honor breathtaking. As a military family we are privileged to uphold this solemn act.

Remember Hope

So you’ll understand the topic of this week’s post. In Psalm 63, David talks about remembering the Lord at night. Whatever you’re going through at the moment, remember you are not alone. Perhaps you’ve experienced a loss like we did. Maybe you’re one of the thousands affected by Hurricanes Helene or Milton. Let’s face it, there could be any one of a number of devastating storms battering down the doors to your body or soul.

Let me give you hope. Two veins of it. First of all, remember God is with you in all of it. Like David, remember God in the darkness.

And secondly, God has said as much as we remember him, he will never leave or forget us. You are seen, and loved and never alone.

⁸ The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
